Skudenshavn, Norway. Saturday 14th August

Can't get photos to upload tonight - signal mustn't be strong enough.  Have hopefully left the big hills behind - and there was definitely some stings in the tail towards the end of the section from Kristiansand to Stavanger. A variety of weather - never know what it will be like in an hours time - from cold and pouring rain, to the sun cracking the flags.
We've cycled just over 3,400 miles now, and hope we will be in Bergen within the nest 4-5 days.  The latest plan is to fly from Bergen to Newcastle (no direct flight to Manchester, and also very expensive) and then get the train via York to Todmorden, then cycle the dreaded hill over to Bacup and home - but can't really fuss too much about this hill after what we have been cycling up - bet we have to push the bikes up some of the way though.
The flights are daily during the week- so if all went well (not expecting this really) we might be able to get a flight on Thursday or Friday, but may have to stay over in the Newcastle area while we sort out the train home as you have to reserve your bikes on the train.  Can see that it might well be Monday though before we can sort out the flight home and get the bikes (and us) to the airport etc.
A couple of weeks ago we contacted an acquaintance, Eric and Randi who live in Sandnes, near Stavanger - a 10 minute drive from where we were camped last night as it turns out.  Didn't hear anything from them as they were away in Iceland, but amazingly they got home yesterday evening and texted us later on. They are only home a couple of days, so fortunate that we were in the right place at the right time - so we met up this lunchtime at the campsite  for a few hours - enjoying the wonderful sunshine, along with their grand-daughter.  Grandparents are called the equivalent of 'father father' or 'mother father' or 'father mother' or 'mother mother', so you know the relationship to the child.
Left the campsite sometime after 2 pm, and just made it to the ferry (20 miles) that goes between Stavanger to Skudenshavn at 16.45pm.  A 1 hr 20 min ferry - used to be the main route from Stavanger to Bergen, but they have built the second deepest tunnel in the world under the sea now so most of the  traffic goes this way.
Skudeneshavn is a delightful little town, full of white painted wooden board houses - a distinctive style for the coast of Norway.
Hope to upload some photo's for you soon.
